Established in 2016, we’ve continually grown our capability, expertise, plant and equipment to meet the evolving needs of our clients, in regional and remote areas. In 2024 we purchased Carpentaria Contracting (CC) to further expand our fleet and capacity, and our team now has head offices in Cairns and Weipa. We mobilise our people and plant to sites and projects as needed, with rapid deployment and compliance at every step.
We have the experience, financial strength, qualified personnel and capacity to provide clients with economic solutions and project outcomes that exceed expectations in safety, quality, environment, time and cost performance. We specialise in mining and construction, but also work with residential, commercial and government clients.
James has an extensive background in mining projects across Far North Queensland, including the Mt Isa Mine, Lady Loretta Mine, EHM Mine, the Mt Carbine Tungsten Mine, GEMCO and Rio Tinto. He started Hussey Corp in 2016 and the business has continued to grow since then. In the first 8 years of operations, Hussey Corp successfully completed over 1,000 projects, 100% on time and within budget. In 2024 Hussey purchased Carpentaria Contracting to expand the capacity of Hussey Corp, to meet the growing needs of clients.
James has successfully managed a range of complex projects and has developed strong interpersonal skills and a ‘no-nonsense’ approach to client relationships. He is responsible for overall business strategy, corporate governance, client and industry-wide relationships. His focus is to provide leadership by inspiring and motivating personnel to continually strive for excellence and safety in everything they do.
Darren is a senior executive and commercial leader with extensive experience delivering business optimisation, transformation, and sustainable growth across energy and resources, construction, asset management, maintenance, environmental services, property management, and contracts and procurement.
He is recognised for building strong, trusted client relationships and for consistently delivering on commitments through disciplined execution. Darren brings deep expertise in commercial governance, P&L management, major capital works, asset lifecycle management, and operational delivery, driving diversification, improved financial performance, and long-term value.
Darren’s leadership approach aligns closely with the Hussey Corp values and vision for the future, combining strategic clarity, operational excellence, and strong governance with a commitment to collaboration, accountability, and sustainable growth. He fosters high-performing teams and delivers outcomes that support both client objectives and Hussey Corp’s long-term direction.
Shaun started with Hussey in 2019 as a concreter and over the years he has continued to take on more responsibilities into leading hand and supervision roles, which has led to his current position as the Civil Superintendent for the Weipa Branch.
Shaun is not only an experienced concreter by trade, he is also a talented machinery operator who has been involved in the planning and execution of many large earthmoving projects on client mine sites. A true civil construction all-rounder!
His commitment to providing an above and beyond service to our clients aligns perfectly with our values at Hussey Corp. Shaun uses his past experience and knowledge within the construction industry to continue to educate our team to provide the same level of dedication and work ethic that he has.
Joel has built a strong career in the commercial and industrial HVAC&R industry since commencing in 2004, with extensive experience spanning service delivery, leadership, and complex cooling environments. His background includes hands-on and managerial roles in production and process cooling, as well as managing a large, multi-discipline electrical and HVAC&R service department. Throughout his career, he has maintained a strong focus on solution-based service delivery, aligning technical outcomes with operational requirements and long-term asset performance. He places a high emphasis on quality workmanship, compliance, and continuous improvement, ensuring systems are delivered and maintained to a high standard of reliability, efficiency, and safety.
Donny is an experienced electrical engineer with more than 15 years’ experience in both project and maintenance roles on a variety of surface and underground mines across QLD & NT.
He has been involved in providing technical support, design, maintenance, installation, and commissioning for many Hussey projects since he started in 2019 and his knowledge and expertise is regularly requested by clients.
Since starting with Hussey, Rohan has been responsible for coordinating electrical projects, providing cost and time effective solutions to clients and is the main point of contact throughout the project.
His experience within the industry has exposed him to a variety of safe work practices which he applies to all planning and execution of works.
Due to his meticulous attention to detail and extensive planning, Rohan is able to provide accurate timelines and estimates to clients to execute all works in a safe and timely manner.
