OUR COMMITMENT

INDIGENOUS EMPLOYMENT

We support Indigenous employment, training and economic participation across Cape York, the Gulf and Northern Australia, helping to empower local people and communities through real opportunities.

WE CREATE EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES AND PROVIDE TRAINING TO BUILD CAPACITY IN COMMUNITY.

At Hussey, we are committed to creating lasting, positive outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We work to increase local participation across our operations, with a strong focus on employment, training and capacity building throughout Cape York, the Gulf and Northern Australia. We actively support employment and training opportunities through federal programs and community partnerships. We aim to unlock potential and build capability by providing real work, support and pathways to personal development. Our Indigenous Employment Policy guides how we engage, support and retain Indigenous employees across our projects and workforce.

Our Pathways. We believe that meaningful employment contributes to the financial and social wellbeing of individuals, families and communities, while also strengthening connection to culture, heritage and identity. We match the right people to the job, with training provided.

OUR INDIGENOUS EMPLOYMENT POLICY

Our policy outlines the specific commitments we make in the areas of Indigenous employment, cultural recognition and capability, financial capability as well as capacity building in areas that are directly related to our business, our staff and the communities in which we operate. Our focus is on unlocking the potential and expanding the expertise of individuals, and community. Through the application of our policy, we achieve the following commitments:

  • Maintaining an above industry ratio of highly skilled Indigenous workforce, wherever possible traditionally tied to the local community.
  • Providing ongoing training and support, as required, to improve skills, enabling individuals to successfully carry out their duties.
  • Respecting the rights of our Indigenous employees by providing acceptance of cultural obligations, and understanding that these may impact work attendance.
